Gel Packs

For local NYC delivery, we use frozen leakproof non-toxic gel packs.  These are reusable but not recyclable.  If you will be home to receive your broth and want to avoid any gel packs and reduce packaging, please note this on your order or contact us before the delivery day.

Dry Ice

We generally use dry ice to keep your broth frozen for delivery outside of NYC.  Dry ice needs to be handled and disposed of correctly.  If there is dry ice remaining when you receive your order, remove broth from package with protective gloves and leave dry ice in package in open air ventilated area.  See below for more details..

Safe Handling

Dry ice temperature is extremely cold at –109.3°F or –78.5°C.  Never let dry ice touch your bare skin!  Always handle with care and wear protective gloves, oven mitt, or towel. If touched briefly it is harmless, but prolonged contact will cause injury similar to a burn.  Remove the merchandise leaving dry ice in package.

Storage / Disposal

Keep remaining dry ice in the package at room temperature in a well ventilated location until it sublimates (turns to gas).  Dry ice turns directly into gas and increases carbon dioxide in the air which can be very dangerous to you if CO2 concentration becomes too high.

Do not store dry ice in unventilated rooms, cellars,  automobiles, or refrigerator freezer. Do not leave dry ice on a tiled or solid surface countertop.

Never dispose of dry ice in a sink, toilet, drain, trash or garbage.

DO NOT LEAVE DRY ICE UNATTENDED AROUND CHILDREN.

If you are concerned with dry ice or prefer to receive your broth partially thawed and ready to use/refrigerate rather than frozen, we can pack it with gel packs instead.  Please note this during the checkout process.
